Buds are on trees, flowers of all types and colors are popping up, and the wonderful smell of spring that perfumes are made from surround us.
Now that March is behind us, and the Madness as well (!), our Western NC chapter can happily say we accomplished two events for the month. The first was our Continuing Education Day on the 23rd. Vince Gallo from The Guardian/Central Atlantic presented two different courses on Disability. One was for two hours; the other, one hour for which we received 3 credits. New updates and concepts were well received. The second event held on the 30th was a Community Service Day. Instead of us stocking shelves, some of us assembled hygiene kits. The kits will be picked up by residents in need at a future time monthly. We always think of food insecurity but what about the mere basics? Not only was the activity rewarding for us, but it was also calming and therapeutic. God knows, we can all use a little therapy these days!!
Here we are in April. Unfortunately, our scheduled member meeting has to be postponed due to a calendar conflict regarding the physicians who were supposed to be on a panel discussion. However, there is good news for Thursday, May 18th. We will be integrating National Employee Day with Health Insurance Awareness Day. We hope to have several of our local and/or State representatives as attendees for this vibrant exchange. The venue will be announced shortly.
Thursday, June 1st is the date for our annual Awards “Picnic” member, client, and sponsor event. We will also announce any new Board members. Traditionally we have this event at the Western Governor’s Residence in Asheville; however, since COVID the challenges
of etching in a date are greater. As soon as I get a confirmed location, I will let everyone know. In the meantime, mark the start time as
5:00 P.M. I welcome all of you from all chapters to be my guest; you won’t want to miss this tradition in Western NC.
Enjoy the rest of the month, and always remember to thank and support our sponsors for helping our chapter bring fresh new programs at new venues!
With energy and enthusiasm,
Andi Block
