The Western NC Chapter had an in-person visit from Carol Matznick and Michele Reynolds on April 27th that was well attended. We discussed many items, including the upcoming naming change (locally to WNCBIP) and ideas for more opportunities for member engagement in 2022-23 and beyond. We appreciate the input and attendance of everyone present, and are looking forward to implementing some of the suggestions this coming year.
In early May, we held a general membership meeting and board meeting at Highland Brewing Company’s taproom. The main item of discussion was the volunteering, selection and appointment of board members for the fiscal year beginning July 1st. A selection of officers was agreed upon by all those present and in communication for the meeting; that list of officers is set to be voted upon at our Annual Picnic. As always, any members who wish to get involved will not be turned away - if you want to be involved on the board, or in helping to plan events, please reach out and let us know.
Our Annual Picnic is currently being planned and scheduled. It may occur in the last week of June, or early July - still TBD. Updates and information will be sent out ASAP when details are secured. Our Annual Picnic will include a regular member meeting, the past year’s awards celebration and the swearing in ceremony for next fiscal year’s board members. The NC Arboretum is the current target location for this event; however, suggestions or feedback from membership is more than welcome - contact information is below.
Our next member meeting will be at the upcoming Annual Picnic mentioned above. We look forward to seeing everyone for the first large in-person event in WNC for over 2 years now!
