"May" I have another compliance responsibility. On March 11th the Biden Administration signed the American Rescue Plan Act, a huge spending bill designed to help the Country get on it's feet after the difficult year we collective had battling COVID-19. One of the provisions of this bill was the expansion of COBRA subsidies to individuals still within their 18-month eligibility period for COBRA. Individuals who qualify, are eligible to receive a 100% subsidy for April 2021 through September 30, 2021. This also includes anyone eligible for "mini-COBRA" or State Continuation.
Subsidies will help those who have been adversely impacted by COVID, but it also adds a new layer of regulations and deadlines for employers. TAHU covered the rollout of the bill during our last meeting that covered Biden's first 100 days. If you haven't had a chance to listen to listen in, I encourage you surf over to our website and take the time to listen to the impact of ARPA and also what more to expect from the Biden administration.
This is a great segue to share with you that we have expanded our website to include archived virtual meetings. We are working on additional content but if you happen to miss a meeting, you will be able to find the archived meeting under the "Events" tab at www.nctahu.org
Our Chapter is gearing up for our National Convention June 27th-29th, I hope that you can join your fellow TAHU, NCAHU and NAHU members for this important event. As you know we meet every year to decide and vote on important initiatives that impact our organization. This year will not be any different. There are several important items on the agenda this year including agency membership. If you haven't had a chance to register yet, you can by clicking this link https://nahu.org/annual-convention .
Don't forget to join us virtually May 11th for our monthly TAHU meeting. This month we are discussing hospital indemnity, GAP plans, and how using these products help employers close the "gap" between deductibles and first dollar coverage. You can register for this meeting here: https://www.nctahu.org/register
