Last week during a discussion with Melinda Munden, Director and Deputy Commissioner SHIIP Division she expressed an interest in providing SHIIP counselors a resource to direct consumers to find a licensed agent certified in Medicare plans. During our discussion, I suggested using the Find an Agent webpage on our national association website http://nahu.org/.
Well, the good news is, because of our discussion with NCDOI, the Find an Agent webpage was improved by NAHU to enable consumers to more easily find an agent based on their specific needs (i.e. agent practice areas), in our case, Medicare. Now when you go to the NAHU Find an Agent (http://nahu.org/looking-for-an-agent/find-an-agent), consumers can simply enter their zip code and a radius to find a local agent who specializes in Medicare. The list generated is a randomized list of 17 agents, so it doesn't favor any particular agent.
Because of our discussion with NCDOI, we've added the Find an Agent link more prominently to both the
local Triangle chapter website (https://www.nctahu.org/) and
state chapter website (https://www.ncahu.org/)
The NCDOI has not made a final decision about using the Find an Agent feature. However, we look forward to continued discussions on how we can both better serve the consumers of North Carolina.
