One of the things I value most about being a part of health underwriters is the spirit of friendship and community we all enjoy. From Capitol Conference to monthly virtual NCAHU Board Meetings, I so enjoy my interactions with my fellow employee benefit professionals. Many of us find ourselves working remotely and often void of much in-person interaction with our peers, customers, and prospects. The future of public gatherings is still uncertain, and I am grateful for those in the NCAHU and NAHU family that have dedicated their time to finding creative ways to still promote comradery and professional development through virtual means.
The NCAHU 2020 Symposium that was to be our first ever joint event in partnership with IIANC's annual Insurexpo ended up being a no go due to COVID-19. It was the right decision at the time but a hard one for all involved to make given the work that went into planning for the event.
In my role as NCAHU's President Elect for the 2020/2021 term I am following in the footsteps of the great Dan Odorizzi. For those of you fortunate enough to attend NCAHU 2019 Capital Conference in Raleigh you know firsthand how much Dan cares about the NCAHU family.
Items on my to-do list include sponsorship partnerships to support the value proposition we deliver to the NCAHU members and yes planning future programming be it virtual or in-person for the 2020/2021 term. At present NCAHU and IIANC are working on a combined partnership for the 2021 IIANC InsureExpo in Winston-Salem May 20-21. NCAHU is also considering a Day on the Hill as a one-day mini version of the 2019 NCAHU Capital Conference in Raleigh.
If any of you reading this have suggestions of vendors, you feel would make great NCAHU sponsors please share their contact info. If any of you reading this have suggestions for topics of education you feel could help educate, empower, or advise our family of members please share your thoughts.
Thank you to all that make a difference in our industry through their commitment to NCAHU! I am excited to do my part for the 2020/2021 term.
Sincerely,
Chris Ross
Chris, you are too kind. I am looking forward to a great year of events!
