This month, we will begin the new session – beginning with receptions, early meetings and keeping a close eye on committee assignments. Bills will be filed and the first moves on the General Assembly's chess game this season will be taken. With the passage of the CAA 2023 and its requirement that states begin to review Medicaid eligibility, the pressure to get Medicaid expansion done will likely be at the front of the line.
We expect discussion about why North Carolina is among the top five in states with hearings related to balance billings. The next round of the fight between community pharmacies and PBMs will begin. And other work that needs to be done on budget, and a myriad of issues unrelated to insurance will be rebated. But we're ready and will keep our members up to date on what is happening in Raleigh so that you, as members, can weigh in, offer assistance with your members of the legislature and help your clients understand why this is something that will impact their ability to offer coverage to their employees or pay for coverage for themselves and their family members.
