    Time for some "Strategery"

    in NCAHU President News

NCAHU Board enjoying a moment of levity during our virtual strategic planning meeting.

What has your NCAHU Board been up to lately? Well, I'm glad you asked. We have been hard at work training and planning for the future. All in all, we've been up to a heavy amount of strategery. Yes, I am going to use the term made famous by Saturday Night Live. I think it fits and may bring some levity to our otherwise overwhelmed lives. Between dealing with the pandemic, the election, virtual schooling, renewals, prospecting, open enrollments, and much, much more, I think we could all use a minute to smile and reflect positively on life. As long as we apply the correct amount of strategery, we will get through it all and come out better on the other side. We always do.

On September 30th we invited NAHU President, Janet Trautwein, to kick-off our (virtual) leadership training. She started by officially inducting the Board. Janet then went on to give an outstanding overview of the tools available to us as members of NAHU. For example, did you realize that NAHU has a staff of benefit lawyers available to answer questions in the Compliance Corner? If you did know that existed, I'll bet you haven't taken full advantage. I know I haven't. Janet emphasized that our job as leaders of the association is to ensure our current (and future) members understand and are able to utilize all of the tools available through the association. If you are interested in learning more please do not hesitate to contact your local chapter president. They will be happy to show you all that NAHU offers. It is pretty impressive!

Towards the end of the meeting, we discussed the value that the local and state chapters bring to members. We need to offer content that is interesting, top-of-mind, educational and fun. All of the local chapter presidents agreed to start helping each other create and execute content. I am excited for our upcoming year and to start taking advantage of the meetings the local chapters create.

Now to the strategery. On October 7th we held our (virtual) strategic planning meeting. Our main goal was to implement action items to accomplish a few important goals: Serve our members, engage our members and grow our membership. We discussed membership campaigns, professional development initiatives, political advocacy, Champion's Circle recruitment, Symposium and Medicare Summit events, and the potential development of a virtual chapter. We were hard at work but also took time for a good laugh (as the picture above shows). Thanks to the intelligence, initiative and dedication of our fantastic board, along with the support of our Champion's Circle sponsors (BCBSNC, UHC, Aetna, and Humana), we will come out of this year stronger than ever!

Stay safe and good luck with 4th quarter!
