In my article last month, I told you that a name change was being presented to the House of Delegates at the NAHU Convention in Austin, TX. It was presented, it was discussed quite a bit and it was ultimately voted on! Beginning January 1, 2023, we are The National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals. A new name, a new logo, a new beginning!!
We too are making some changes in NC that are relevant to our Bylaws. The first is our official new name - The National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals North Carolina - which is a result of the vote at the annual Convention.
Next, our Board of Directors voted to present additional changes effective 7/1/22. In essence, we are extending the elected officers one-year term to two years. Moving forward the elected officers of the Association shall be: President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, and Vice President and, if applicable, Past President's Council Chair. The Secretary and Treasurer positions will be President appointed positions. One-year terms are short and have historically made it very difficult to achieve continuity for the Association. This change was precipitated by a desire of the Executive Board to allow leaders of the organization to work through and implement pivotal growth strategies that benefit all of our members. We have discussed these changes with our partners such as IIANC and with many of our long-time Champion Circle sponsors, all of whom agree that extending the term will provide much needed continuity.
The current officers who will be serving again for the 2022-2023 year are as follows:
President – Carol Matznick
President-elect – Michelle Wilson-Reynolds
Vice President – Tony DeRico
Immediate Past President – Dan Odorrizi
Past President’s Council Chair – Blake Spell
