NCAHU Lobbyist, Joe Stewart
With the election almost upon us, I think it is appropriate to reflect on one of the key features this association offers it's members...and ask for your help!
Over the years, NAHU has devoted an enormous amount of time, effort and money towards political advocacy. As an association, we have worked hard to grow our national PAC (HUPAC) to be one of the largest and most recognizable within the benefits arena. Why is this so important? Well, the answer is simple. We need to have our voices heard on Capitol Hill. Too much is at stake for us to idly sit by and allow others to decide the direction and scope of benefits within this country. As trusted insurance advisors and agents, we need to advocate for our clients (the insurance consumer) in order to ensure the products they are offered are intelligently created to offer the best level of protection for the most competitive price. Additionally, we need to continue to fight for our own relevancy within the process. Personally, I would say that this is THE most important thing that the association does for us, it's members.
At the state level, North Carolina is also working hard to ensure that our voice is heard. NCAHU has made a significant investment in an outstanding lobbyist, Joe Stewart. He has been integral in keeping us informed, active and top-of-mind in Raleigh. His guidance and leadership have been critical to our efforts in creating and growing our General Assembly Action Committee (GAAC), identifying like-minded associations to work with, setting meetings with influential legislators, and advising on the best use of our limited NCPAC funds. Thank you and job well done, Joe!
Here is where we need your help. In order to truly create influence within our state's legislature, we need to grow our state PAC (NCPAC). I know that these are unprecedented times and finances for many are tight, but we need to advocate for our clients within this state and ensure our relevancy. Every dollar helps increase our voice. Every dollar helps ensure our future. If you are willing to accept my call to action, the process for donating is pretty straightforward. I'm going to leave you this month with links to interviews UNC TV did with each of the candidates running for NC Commissioner of Insurance, Mike Causey and Wayne Goodwin. Don't worry, these are much easier to watch than the Presidential Debate last night. Please don't forget to vote. This is a huge election with many future implications on our industry both nationally and statewide.

Well Said! Long live the Joe.
