Hello everyone,
We had a chapter lunch meeting the end of September in which we had the New Hanover County health director give a presentation on the agency and their responsibilities across the state and locally. Some of the presentation was directly related to healthcare and other parts were just extremely interesting involving our local port being a major port city on the South East Coast. They are responsible for keeping the local population safe from foreign communicable diseases and have an active involvement in who comes in from abroad. He also gave some insight into the current COVID situation at our hospital and provided some historic, current, and goal metrics in our attempt to return to normal. All in all a great guy and very informative meeting. We will not hold a meeting this month and are focusing on planning a future membership drive involving some sponsorship, free food and drinks, and a legislative update from our lobbyist. This may happen this fall or if not next spring as we want to make it as effective and successful as possible.
