President's Message

Wow! Who would have thunk it??? Being the Executive Director for NCAHU from 1994-2017; it never really occurred to me that I would one day be President of NCAHU!

I am beyond excited and humbled to be President for the 2021-2022 year. I have worked with many great leaders throughout the years who have made NCAHU one of the most respected state chapters in the country. I also look forward to working with all of our members to expand professional development opportunities for you and to broaden the scope of our association by recruiting industry admired thought leaders into our organization. We will also continue to broaden our professional development opportunities for agents focused on Medicare/Medicaid/Individual products. Lastly, we will continue the strong legislative advocacy momentum we have diligently built in the last few years through our General Assembly Action Committee and our Federal Legislative Advocacy.

I look forward to working with all of you this year.

Our Mission

NCAHU will improve its members ability to meet the health, financial and retirement security needs of all North Carolinians through education, advocacy, legislation and professional development.

Our Vision

Every North Carolinian has access to solutions for health, financial and retirement needs, through services provided by insurance professionals.

What We Do

NCAHU is the State Chapter of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU). NCAHU proudly serve as a direct resource of fact-based information for the general public, employers, policymakers, and others who are concerned about healthcare and health insurance in North Carolina.

We assist employers, employees, individuals & those enrolled or enrolling in Medicare. Our agents and brokers uniquely understand the healthcare challenges that North Carolinians face each day. Our organization represents the voice of all those needing and purchasing health care in North Carolina. We work with both State and Federal legislators on the need to expand healthcare access in North Carolina and we help employers, employees and individuals navigate the myriad of complex healthcare solutions available.

Our History

The National Association of Heath Underwriters was formed during the Great Depression in 1930 and today represents over 100,000 licensed agents and brokers who all have a shared mission of improving the ability of healthcare consumers to access the most affordable, comprehensive solutions available.

In 1980, NAHU recognized a need for greater consumer education and advocacy, including education of health insurance coverage options and how wellness can aide in the affordability of that coverage. NAHU agents have since been organized and committed to providing this outreach, education and advocacy on behalf of all healthcare consumers in America.
